The Circular provides instructions about treatment of livestock waste as follows:
- Solid organic waste:
+ Organic waste discharged from livestock farming activities is treated according to the single or mixed solution such as composting, biogas technology, processing of biologicals, etc.;
+ Organic waste discharged from livestock farming activities that has already been treated to meet national technical regulations is used for crops or used as aquafeeds.
While awaiting national technical regulations, treatment of solid organic waste will follow instructions given by specialized regulatory authorities.
- Livestock wastewater:
+ Livestock wastewater released from livestock farming activities is treated according to the single or mixed solution such as biogas, waste stabilization pond technology, processing of biologicals, etc.;
+ Livestock wastewater released from livestock farming activities is treated to meet national technical regulations regarding livestock wastewater for use in crop production activities, such as watering plants or serving other purposes, inside farms.
Using biologicals and applying technological advances and new techniques for treatment of livestock waste are encouraged.
Circular No. 12/2021/TT-BNNPTNT is entering into force as of January 1, 2022.
