Pursuant to the Law, clause 8 of Article 8 in the 2008 Law on Road Traffic dated November 13, 2018 is amended.
Specifically, existing regulations enshrined in the 2008 Law of Road Traffic stipulate that driving associated with alcohol use falls into two following situations:
- Regarding motor vehicles, tractors or special vehicles, persons with blood or breath alcohol concentration are strictly prohibited from driving these vehicles (this means that penalties may be imposed, irrespective of high or low blood or breath alcohol concentration).
- Regarding motorcycles or mopeds, riders tested with alcohol concentration of more than 50 milligram in 100 milliliter of blood or 0.25 milligram in 1 litre of breath.
However, the Law on Prevention and Control of Harmful Effects of Alcoholic Beverage is now amending these regulations as follows:
Driving with blood or breath alcohol concentration is strictly prohibited.
This means that neither drivers of motor vehicles, tractors nor special vehicles and riders of motorcycles or mopeds with their blood or breath alcohol concentration are allowed to drive or ride.
The Law on Prevention and Control of Harmful Effects of Alcoholic Beverage will be in force on January 1, 2020.
