The Circular prescribes that, if passengers on entry or exit across borders carry foreign currency or Vietnamese dong cash, precious metals or gems of which value must be informed to customs checkpoints, they must present the following documents:
- With respect to precious metals or gems (except gold):
+ Invoices of enterprises and organizations licensed to trade precious metals or gems, or other documents evidencing legitimate origins of precious metals and gems which are presented instead of invoices which are not available.
+ Documents to be presented to customs checkpoints must be original or certified as true copies in accordance with regulations in force.
- Entry or exit passengers carrying foreign currency or Vietnamese dong cash or gold must present documents prescribed in the State Bank’s regulations.
- If invoices or origin evidencing documents exist in certain foreign languages,
+ With regard to exit passengers: They must present authenticated Vietnamese translations of these documents prescribed by laws, except as they have already presented original copies or certified true copies of these documents before;
+ With regard to entry passengers: They must present original copies or certified true copies of these documents.
