This Circular prescribes that notice and warning symbols for use of medicines must be printed on labels and drug information leaflets, including:
- The text line: “Keep out of reach of children”, “Read carefully before use”;
- With regard to prescription medicines:
+ On the label of the outer package: The symbol “Rx” which is inscribed at the upper left corner of medicine name and the text line “prescription medicine”;
+ On the drug information leaflet: The symbol “Rx” which is inscribed at the upper left corner of medicine name; the text line “This medicine is only administered according to prescription";
- With regard to medicines subject to special control or others:
+ Medicines in the list of toxic drugs must be identified by the warning line "TOXIC DRUG";
+ Medicines in aid or humanitarian relief programs must be identified by the line “Medicines for aid purposes, not for sale”.
- Other notice and warning symbols for specific medicines:
+ Eye drops or eye wash must be defined by the line “Eye drop” or “Eye wash”;
+ Topical drugs must be defined by the line “Topical drug”, etc.
The Circular No. 01/2018/TT-BYT is set to commence on June 1, 2018.
